Shopping at Bio Bairro is simple!
Choose the product you’re looking for, complete your purchase, have it delivered to your home, or collect it from the shop or from a locker at the Mercado Bio-Região in Idanha-a-Nova. Anyone aged 18 or over can shop at Bio Bairro. It’s a simple and convenient way to support local shops.
Step by step
You don’t need to register to browse Bio Bairro. You can browse the shops and products at your leisure. When you’re ready to buy, here’s what to do:
Choose the product and add it to your basket;
Create an account or log in if you already have one;
Choose your delivery or collection method — by post, from a locker or in-store;
Choose your payment method and complete your purchase;
Wait for the confirmation email.
Once your purchase has been confirmed, the retailer is notified and will prepare your order. You’ll receive a notification when your product is ready for delivery or collection — whether at home, from a locker or directly from the retailer’s shop.
How to receive your product
Bio Bairro offers three ways to receive your purchases, designed to suit your routine and preferences:
Home delivery – choose home delivery and have your products delivered directly to your address, conveniently and securely;
Lockers collection – collect your item from a locker at the Mercado Bio-Região in Idanha-a-Nova, at your own pace and at a time that suits you best. You don’t need to coordinate with anyone else — your item will be kept safe until you come to collect it.
In-store collection — go to the retailer’s shop and collect your order in person. A great opportunity to get to know the shop and the retailer better.
Payment methods
Bio Bairro accepts the following payment methods, all of which are secure and widely used in Portugal:
MB WAY — immediate payment by mobile phone, quick and hassle-free
Bank transfer — direct payment via IBAN, secure and traceable
SPIN — a payment tool provided by the Bank of Portugal
Once payment has been made, you will receive a confirmation reference number, which you should keep to facilitate verification with the merchant. At checkout, you will be prompted to enter this reference number on the relevant payment receipts.
Who can shop at Bio Bairro?
Anyone aged 18 or over can buy products from the Marketplace via the website or app. You do not need to be a resident of Idanha-a-Nova — Bio Bairro is open to anyone who wants to support local businesses in the municipality.
If you’re from Idanha-a-Nova, you’ll find the shops you already know here, now with the convenience of online shopping. If you’re from further afield, Bio Bairro is the easiest way to discover and buy unique products from local traders in the municipality.

Customer FAQs
The estimated delivery time for a product, by delivery method, is shown on the relevant product page as ‘Delivery in xx – yy days’ and varies depending on the type of product and the seller.
Customers have the option of paying for their orders directly to the retailers.
This solution will enable orders to be paid for via a direct transfer to retailers using one of the following methods:
1.MB WAY (telephone number provided by the retailer)
2.Direct bank transfer (via IBAN)
3.SPIN (a new payment tool provided by the Bank of Portugal)
When entering payment details during the order checkout process, a reference number is provided which must be included on the receipt(s) for the payment method(s) used, to facilitate verification by the retailer.
It is also possible to purchase products with payment to be made in-store, directly to the retailer(s).
Each seller chooses the delivery methods they wish to offer, as well as the cost of each and the geographical areas to which they deliver. The delivery methods, cost and estimated delivery time can be viewed on each product page and at checkout
The seller is responsible for dispatching the orders.
